The career of dental hygienist is in especially high demand and can be a very rewarding and financially stable career path. Hygienists often have the opportunity to build a rapport with patients who come every six months for their check ups. Hygienists shouldn't be squeamish about the body and should enjoy the challenge that comes with detail-oriented, skilled work with their hands. With a more advanced degree, students sometimes go on to earn their DDS and become licensed dentists. Becoming an oral surgeon is also a career path -- understandably it takes the highest level of medical and dental education to become an oral surgeon. People in the US as well as in developing nations need help caring for their teeth. Whichever career path you feel is best, the field of dental care is in continual demand.
