The University of the Cumberlands School Principal program of study is designed for individuals who have a master's degree in education, a valid teacher's license, and have graduated from an institution of higher learning. Students may earn the Rank I certification at the “sixth-year,” specialist, or doctoral level, which requires 18 hours. Students may also earn non-degree certification at the master’s level, which requires 12 hours. Rank I certification includes courses in school law, business management in public schools, human resource management and supervision, instructional design and curriculum, and education administration. Non-degree certification includes courses in evaluation, measurement, and assessment, and instructional leadership in technology, school and community relations, and applied research in education.
