The University of the Cumberlands Director of Special Education program of study is designed for individuals who have Master degree or a Fifth Year non-degree in education and have graduated from an institution of higher learning. Students may earn the Rank I certification at the “sixth-year,” specialist, or doctoral level, which requires 30 hours. Students may also earn non-degree certification at the master’s level, which requires 18 hours. Rank I certification courses include human resource management and supervision, school business management, school law,
consultation & collaboration for curriculum design, and advanced assessment strategies and prescriptive writing.
