Degree Description: The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree prepares adults for career change or advancement, or graduate education, while providing personal enrichment. Students develop a broad general knowledge of the traditional liberal arts disciplines while developing a greater depth of knowledge in particular areas of interest. Credit requirements are distributed among the traditional liberal arts areas (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences/mathematics) and free electives. Students have the flexibility to pursue a concentration, choosing from subjects within one of the liberal arts areas: anthropology, criminal justice, economics, history, labor studies, political science, psychology, social sciences and sociology. Adults also may select an individual subject area of study that provides for sequential course work, or select liberal studies, choosing from two or more disciplines within general education subject areas. The following BA degrees may be earned via the Conventional Approach, entirely through Thomas Edison State College: criminal justice, history, psychology and social sciences. The B.A. is a 120-credit program.
