The Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement Online Program has been designed to meet the needs of adult learners who desire to obtain a teaching position in the field of special education.
Hannibal-LaGrange College's goal is to ensure that online program graduates obtain a broad general instruction, a firm grounding in specialized teaching, and a strong competency in the area of early childhood development and education. This program embraces teaching as a complex task that requires the capacity to reflect on and revise decisions on the basis of one's observations and insights.
Graduates will possess a comprehensive understanding of teaching, subject matter and learning, as well as knowledge of the interrelationship between these components in an educational setting. This comprehensive training produces effective and inspiring teachers of students with disabilities. In addition, it provides theoretical and applied instruction pertaining to the characteristics of exceptional learners, the legal and procedural aspects of special education, assessment, planning, instruction, behavior management, collaboration and critical issues in the field.
