Bachelor of Science in Professional Communication

Communication skills are increasingly important in today's workplace. This major acquaints the student with a cross-section of current communication theories and applications. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, ethical concerns and assessing one's strengths and weaknesses as a communicator. Students will learn both the theory and the practice of strategic, ethical, and persuasive communication to internal (e.g., employees) and external (e.g., customers, suppliers, the community, and the general public) audiences.

Major courses include communication management, interpersonal communication, public relations and communication in the technological age.

Courses are offered in an accelerated, 8-week format. Students can obtain a degree in four years (less with transfer credits). Those entering with an associate's degree or equivalent can earn their Bachelor of Science in Professional Communication degree in about two years. Prospective students with prior college credit and/or other credit-bearing experience can submit transcripts for an evaluation and degree plan.
