This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and is designed to prepare the graduate to function as a Medical Assistant. The graduate will validate competencies by performing administrative and clinical tasks in a variety of healthcare settings. The program provides a foundation of the medical clinical practices in the basics of patient care, administrative medical office procedures, and basic laboratory practices. In addition to the development of clinical and administrative skills, the graduate will build a basic educational foundation in psychology, diversity, and interpersonal communication. The graduate is eligible to take the certification exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) and/or the American Medical Technologist Exam (RMA). (At some campuses, an option of this program is to complete a phlebotomy concentration, becoming eligible to write a phlebotomy certification exam.)
