Degree Title: Master of Science in Computer Information Systems
School: Bellevue University
Degree Description:

The Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS) degree is designed to blend current foundational Information Technology skills with foundational managerial competencies.  The IT curriculum covers technical skills that meet the requirements of most IT/e-Commerce businesses, current application development and maintenance skills on diverse systems including Microsoft® servers and Linux®/Unix® systems, programming languages including C++ and Java™, database design and management, and telecommunications/networking skills using web technologies.  Additionally, students cover management-level training on project management as well as managerial competencies in IT accounting, personal communication, planning, and budgeting.

Successful completion prepares students for management, consulting, and technical projects in both traditional and e-Commerce related businesses.  MSCIS students may elect a Business Administration concentration, which gives them the opportunity to explore emergent as well as traditional concepts underlying the Computer Information Systems curriculum.

Entry into the degree program is not limited to students with computer backgrounds.  Students with no computer background can access foundational principles through prerequisite classes.  Students with computer undergraduate degrees typically will complete the program with 36 credit hours of graduate work.
