Psychology Courses
An education in Psychology is a broad-based way to learn more about the surprising -- and sometimes strange -- ways in which the human mind works. Many students are drawn to this subject because having a greater grasp of how we perceive the world around us is a valuable skill. Regardless of what you choose to do professionally, psychology is a useful educational foundation to have. Psychology covers an incredible range of topics, and there are many areas of study. Students begin their degree program with a broad-based approach, which will then become more focused on a certain subject area as they progress. (cont.)
There are many sub-categories within the field of psychology that a student may decide to specialize in. A small sample of these are: forensic psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology and engineering psychology. A degree in psychology leads to many possible career paths, including work in research-based clinical psychology, which takes place in a hospital or research lab setting. Other career choices abound, such as social worker or career guidance counselor, which provide much-needed social guidance and encouragement to people struggling with everything from drug addiction to unemployment. Regardless of what specialization or path you choose, psychology is a fascinating field that will only enrich your understanding of what makes people tick.
