Political Science Courses

Political science degrees remain a popular choice because they are broad enough to enable graduates to enter multiple fields yet specific enough to enable a graduate to enter this arena right away.

Studying political science requires an aptitude for reading, writing and speaking. You must be able to understand basic concepts of government, so high school social studies courses are a strong foundation. Undergraduate political science majors will also have a broad understanding of law, and this can provide the basis to enter law school with a solid background for a future as a politician. (cont.)

But you don't have to aspire to be president to use a degree in political science. There are a variety of careers that "poly sci" majors can enter easily. They can start of as assistants in legal offices and are commonly found working for government officials, government entities, lobby organizations, and other organizations. These degrees also provide a solid foundation for those wishing to advance into the public administration arena.

Common fields of study within this degree are policy analysis, public policy, nonprofit management, organizational leadership, public relations, and communications.
