Math & Science Courses

If you can crunch numbers and think critically, a degree in math or the sciences may be able to help you get into an amazing career. Both fields offer degrees ranging from two-year programs up to Ph.D.

A degree in math not only prepares you to be a math teacher, but you can use this to break into fields like astronomy, information technology and other sciences. Engineering is another field that requires a solid background in math—don't plan to enter that field unless you have an in-depth education in math. (cont.)

Math is a base in many science curriculums, but you don't have to be an expert at it to obtain a degree in the science arena. But if you want to go all the way in the math arena, you must be an expert in everything from algebra to calculus.

Science majors will most likely need to take several mathematics courses to complete their degrees. There are varieties of science degrees offered at colleges throughout the United States, and some of the most popular ones are pre-med, biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. With the boom of jobs available in the health care arena, many people are pursuing these degrees because they offer the technical background necessary to have a lasting career.
