The Medical Transcription Education Center (M-TEC®) was developed and founded by experienced MTs who made it their mission to provide the highest quality education for medical transcription training. Since its conception in 1996, M-TEC has raised the bar in MT education. Our excellent placement rate for Premier graduates indicates that M-TEC grads are sought after by employers across the country for home-based positions. We provide a comprehensive, cost-effective, home-study program that can be used by individuals for independent study and by practicing medical transcriptionists to enhance their skill levels or prepare for certification.
Our excellent placement rate for Premier graduates includes job placement and apprenticeship/internship opportunities to those who qualify.
The M-TEC® Premier program follows the AHDI Model Curriculum for medical transcription and goes beyond the minimum requirements set for training. M-TEC uses only college-level textbooks and references. Assignments and transcription tests are never automatically graded but are individually reviewed by the student’s instructor, allowing the instructor to offer individual instruction and feedback.
M-TEC® instructors are certified medical transcriptionists and most have also been awarded fellowship status (AHDI-F). M-TEC® offers a full-time technology instructor experienced in the MT field. Instructors provide personalized grading and feedback along with additional support to help with any weaknesses or trouble areas.
M-TEC® was the first school to be approved by the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs (ACCP), a joint committee established by AHIMA and AHDI to approve medical transcription education certificate programs. M-TEC® has also been approved by the State Of Ohio Board of Career Colleges and Schools since 1996, offering a fair refund policy and surety bond to protect your investment.
As the recipient of the MTIA 2008 Industry Support Award for excellence, M-TEC has been the only school to be recognized for their support for the medical transcription industry. M-TEC keeps up with the current trends in the industry by enhancing its training to include more technology, critical thinking skills, speech/voice recognition editing and EMR training, and exposure to a real MT employer platform.
