What is Court Reporting?

Court reporters use a device called a steno machine to record verbatim what is said to create legal documents called transcripts. Transcripts are an essential and required piece of our legal and judicial system. Court reporter skills are used in areas such as actual court, senate, congress, presidential speeches, lawyer interviews known as depositions, webcasts, corporate board rooms, television captioning, and hearing impaired work to name a few. Court Reports, also known as Captioners or Realtime Reporters, enjoy an exciting lifestyle with plenty of work driven by our ever growing legal system.
