NASA contract showcases opportunities for engineers
Those who plan to enroll in online degrees in science or technology may be interested to learn that NASA has signed a contract modification with Jacobs Technology, a Tennessee-based company, to provide further engineering, science and technical services at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
The original contract was signed in October 2005, and its total value stands at $792.5 million.
Under the contract, Jacobs Technology performs a wide range of engineering, technical, science, propulsion, program management and business services both at the Marshall Center as well as NASA headquarters in Washington.
The company also provides all resources, including management, personnel, equipment and supplies, unless specific exceptions are made by the government.
Space studies are among the most attractive degree programs as America continues to outpace other countries in investing in its space exploration programs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for aerospace engineers will grow by 10 percent for the next seven years.
Those who would like to gain appropriate skills to enter this fast-growing field are encouraged to explore a range of online programs offered by institutions around the country.
