Engineering students may be eligible for NASA scholarship
Adult students who wish to pursue a career in aeronautics engineering may benefit from applying for a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scholarship. The organization launches dozens of programs each year in order to promote the study of aeronautics among engineering students.
For example, NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate will award 20 undergraduates and five graduate students with between $15,000 and $35,000 per year. Recipients will also have an opportunity to receive a $10,000 stipend by interning at a NASA research center during the summer.
NASA's Aeronautics Mission Directorate conducts research to help transform the nation's air transportation system and to support development of future air and space vehicles.
"By offering these scholarships, we are extending to students not just an opportunity to become familiar with NASA's research, but also an extra dose of inspiration," said Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, aerospace engineers earned an average of $92,520 during 2008.
