Dual-degree programs allow students to save money and enter the workforce faster
Individuals who wish to obtain both an undergraduate and master's degree will find that some schools are providing options that allow these students to complete both of these tracks quickly.
For instance, Ball State University and Anderson University (AU) will now offer a dual-degree plan that will enable students to earn both their bachelor's and master's within four years, according to Inside Indiana Business.
Steve Jones, director at Ball State, told the news source that aside from saving money, students will now have the advantage of entering the workforce much faster.
Those who wish to enroll in the dual program will earn a bachelor's from AU in information systems in three years. These individuals will then obtain a graduate degree in information and communications sciences at Ball State within 11 months, according to the news provider.
Professors from both institutions indicate that international students will benefit from this program because they can earn both degrees before returning home.
Past graduates of Ball State's master's program have gone on to work for major companies, including Intel and Cisco Systems, the news source reports.
Similar programs may prepare students for jobs as information systems managers, and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, positions for these professionals are expected to increase by 17 percent over the next decade.
