Working adults may find career opportunities after they complete new online courses

Individuals who are looking to land a career as an IT manager as well as those who wish to work in the healthcare industry may find an online master of science in information systems program to be both rewarding and convenient. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that both of these fields will require more workers in the coming years.
Northwestern University plans to implement this type of Web-based learning beginning next year. The school's new master of science in information systems (MSIS) program is designed for working adults who may find it easier to fit this type of online education into their schedule, as opposed to taking time off from their current jobs.
Individuals who take these online courses will study subjects such as electronic health records, decision analysis and integrated delivery systems. Faisal Akkawi, Northwestern's MSIS executive director, says that, because the classes are on the Internet, they can provide an "increased convenience for our busy students."
Individuals studying these online courses may find it convenient to work around their schedule so they can apply to a greater number of career opportunities. The BLS reports that over the next eight years, the IT industry is expected to create 49,500 new mangement jobs.
