University to add online masters degree in creative writing

Full Sail University, an accredited online university, has recently announced that it will be launching a master of arts program in creative writing in March 2010.

The 12-month program is designed to train students in the art of visual storytelling, character creation and development as well as screen writing and storyboarding.

Graduates may see employment opportunities in the fields of publishing, film and television, animation and gaming. Upon completion of the degree, students will have a creative writing portfolio that may open doors for them to enter the media industry.

"Being able to offer students the knowledge and tools necessary to be successful creative writing professionals in the fast-paced world of entertainment media is very exciting," said John Craig, director of the creative writing program at Full Sail. "Using [our online] platform, we are able to provide an excellent educational experience to anyone in the world."

Through Project Launchbox, each Full Sail student will be offered an Apple MacBook as a personal workstation to use throughout their graduate school career.

Online education can be a flexible option for people who are looking to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend traditional on-campus classes.
