University launches online degree program for adult learners
Online courses are quickly becoming the learning method of the future. Adult students have thousands of schools from which they may choose and many degree options as well. Web-based education has given millions of Americans the opportunity to earn associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees.
Online programs allow students to take classes on a schedule that fits their needs. Individuals who enroll in these courses of study may focus on their career goals without disruption to their current jobs or personal lives.
For example, Hampton University recently announced the launch of its virtual campus, HamptonU, which will offer fully online degree programs in criminal justice, business management, paralegal studies, educational leadership and nursing.
Learners who enroll at HamptonU will have anytime access to student support services such as admissions, financial aid, registration and information technology help.
"We are trying to take the expertise and strong programs found on campus and make them available to populations of people which Hampton University hasn't touched yet," said Cassandra Herring, dean of the College of Education and Continuing Studies.
HamptonU, and other similar online programs, offer five academic sessions throughout the year, which give students the option of completing a bachelors degree within three years.
Nearly one in four U.S. students take at least some college courses online, Reuters reports.
