University launches four new online degree programs

Colorado Technical University (CTU) has recently announced the addition of four new online degree programs in computer science and information technology.

Beginning this semester, the university will offer three new masters degree concentrations within the computer science department. Students can now specialize in computer systems security, database systems and software engineering.

Officials at CTU have also launched a bachelor of science degree in information technology with a concentration in web development.

"These four new online degree concentrations, all of which address the growing fields of computer science and information technology, demonstrate our dedication to developing programs and curricula to meet the demand of today's students," said Wallace Pond, chief executive officer for CTU.

Students enrolled in the computer systems security degree program will be exposed to computer system architecture, software system engineering processes as well as operating systems and networking.

Currently, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
