Prospective online college students are still eligible for fall 2010 enrollment

Working adults, parents and military service members are still on time to register for classes in the upcoming school year. It's not too late to enroll in an online university this fall for many nontraditional learners.

For example, Lock Haven University (LHU) in Clearfield North Dakota is currently accepting applications for the fall 2010 semester, reports NBC News Channel 6 WJAC. Applicants are eligible for enrollment in any of the associates, bachelors or masters programs offered by LHU Clearfield until August 30 of this year.

Even students who are not sure which degree program they will enter can enroll in general education courses such as biology, computers, public speaking, political science and geology, among others. Registered nurses who wish to complete their bachelors of nursing degree may do so through LHU Clearfield's online program.

"The RN to BSN completion program is designed to build on the students' knowledge and experience as a registered nurse, enhancing skills in critical thinking, case management and leadership roles," Kim Owens, nursing program department chair, told the news source.

As with most web-based degree programs, prospective students can apply online anytime for approximately $25 per person. Paper-based applications are $40 per student. After the initial documentation is received, acceptance and enrollment can occur in as few as two weeks.

Recent research from the Sloan Consortium indicates that enrollment in online degree programs has increased by 17 percent over the past year.
