Pay It Forward scholarship program deadline approaching
Bryant and Stratton College Online recently reminded students that only one month remains before the deadline for its Pay It Forward scholarship program, which recognizes recipients who want to improve the lives of others through education.
A total of 10 finalists will be selected in January 2011, after which a period of voting will be held to choose five recipients for a full-tuition scholarship for themselves and for a friend, family member, colleague or community organization. The other five individuals will receive $5,000 in scholarship money.
"Through the Pay It Forward Scholarship program, this holiday season people will have an opportunity to not only apply to receive a full-tuition scholarship for themselves, but to give the gift of education to someone else as well," said associate campus director for online education Scott Traylor. "With only a month left until the deadline, we encourage people to submit their application so that they have a chance to both receive and pay forward the education they've always wanted, but may not have thought possible until now."
Applicants are required to submit a brief essay describing why they feel that they deserve to be a finalist, as well as what good deeds they have done for others. They may also reveal who they would like to benefit from their education.
