Online university unveils first learning center
Kaplan University's first Learning Center has opened this month in Milwaukee to offer a blended-learning model combining online courses with classroom-based instruction.
The center was set up in response to the community's need for business-focused higher education and to provide on-site support services to Kaplan University online students from the area.
"This center represents one of the many ways we are continually seeking to better our student experience and support our local communities' needs for an educated workforce," says Jeff Conlon, president and CEO of Kaplan Higher Education.
"[The center combines] proven online learning and curriculum with the added benefits and resources of a brick-and-mortar location," he adds.
The new Learning Center consists of five classrooms that can accommodate approximately 150 students at any given time and features a student resource center along with full-time admissions as well as financial and academic advising offices for individuals seeking bachelors and masters degrees.
Online education may benefit adults whose professional or personal commitments prevent them from pursuing a campus-based degree program. In addition to Kaplan University, numerous other schools around the country offer distance learning options.
