Online university to unveil article series for healthcare students
American Sentinel University, a fully accredited online school, has recently announced the launch of an article series called Careers in Healthcare.
The series, to be written by registered nurse and adjunct faculty member Betty Nelson, will focus on healthcare and patient care issues and how they relate to career options.
Topics will include patient safety, case management, electronic health records and online nursing degrees.
"Healthcare is facing huge challenges with patient safety, an aging population with chronic diseases and increasing fiscal constraints," said dean Catherine Garner. "The articles [will] provide an open, objective forum for those interested in advancing their careers in nursing and healthcare to discuss trends in the industry, shifting organizational structures, and new areas of specialization," she added.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for nurses is expected to grow by 23 percent over the next seven years. The top salaries in the field already exceed $83,000 per year.
Online universities that offer online degree programs may be particularly attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do it in a traditional setting.
