Online university to combine bachelors degree and MBA programs

Officials at Capella University, an accredited provider of online degree programs for adults, have recently announced that the school has created a combined bachelor of science and master of business administration program.

The offering is designed for working adults who are looking to earn both degrees in a shorter period of time. The new program may allow students to complete each degree simultaneously with two quarters less coursework at a substantially lower cost.

Those enrolled in bachelors degree programs in business, information technology and psychology can begin earning masters level credits after completing 100 undergraduate hours of coursework.

Graduates of the combined BS/MBA program can save more than $7,700 over the cost of pursuing each degree separately.

The average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.

Today, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, more than 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
