Online university sponsors IT webinar for military personnel
American Sentinel University, a fully accredited online school, will be sponsoring a one-hour webinar on December 15 concerning careers in the information technology (IT) sector.
The webinar will be led by university vice president Lieutenant Colonel Paul Capicik who will be discussing IT careers for current members of the military.
He will be focusing on possible career paths, career progression and advancement as well as what it takes to succeed in the information technology field.
"As a service member who developed a rewarding career in the information technology arena after leaving the military, I feel compelled to share my perspective on opportunities in this exciting field with other service members who are currently building IT-related skills in the service or plan to do so post transition," said Capicik.
Employment for information technology professionals is expected to grow by 16 percent over the next seven years, faster than average for all other occupations.
The online education sector grew 13 percent last year and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years. Nearly one in four students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports.
