Online university now affiliated with military organization
TUI University, an exclusively online education provider, announced today that it has been accepted into the Army's Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP).
ConAP helps soldiers create educational plans for the future and connects members of the military with specific schools at the time of enlistment.
"Being accepted as a ConAP school is a privilege and a testament to TUI's academics and military-friendly policies," said university president Kenneth Sobaski.
"We are proud to join forces with the ConAP program to bring educational opportunities to our military soldiers, reservists and veterans," he added.
TUI will join the Service Members Opportunity Colleges (SOC) consortium which works toward increasing the number of current soldiers and veterans enrolled in universities under the GI Bill. The SOC also works with the Department of Defense to improve the postsecondary educational experience for members of the armed forces.
Nearly one in four students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports. The online education sector grew 13 percent last year and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years.
