Online university launches two new masters degree programs
Independence University, an online education institution, has recently announced plans to add two new masters degree programs to their health services department curriculum. The college will now offer post-graduate degrees in community health and wellness promotion.
The community health program is designed to prepare students for administrative positions in the healthcare industry. The curriculum revolves around identifying and understanding the specific needs of a particular community, and then managing health programs that are based upon those needs.
The wellness promotion program is constructed to prepare students for positions as health educators and wellness experts in a wide array of settings. The degree will emphasize nutrition, fitness and exercise, as well as healthcare marketing and program evaluation.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the medical and health services field is expected to grow by 16 percent over the next seven years, faster than the average for all occupations.
Online education has been hailed as a cheaper and more flexible instruction option that allows adult learners such as busy parents or working professionals to earn a degree without interrupting their lives.
