Online university launches Spanish course for law enforcement

Law enforcement professionals often benefit from enrolling in continuing education courses. By earning advanced certification, many of these individuals may be eligible for promotion or salary increases. Top professionals in their field earned $90,570 during the 2008 fiscal year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

In order to meet the needs of working officers who wish to advance in their careers, Pass Christian University introduced an online course in law enforcement that will be taught in Spanish. Participants in this course can master the fundamentals of the Spanish language in the practice of basic conversational skills. As this language becomes increasingly common in the U.S., more officers may need to become familiar with it in order to better serve the general public. They also have the opportunity to learn essential Spanish terminology for police situations.

The course is offered in an online format, which may benefit busy professionals who require a flexible schedule and anytime access to coursework.

Earning advanced certification may benefit the 883,600 law enforcement officers who currently work in the U.S., as continuing training helps police, detectives and special agents improve their job performance, according to the BLS.
