Online university joins Project Working Mom 2010
Officials at Ashford University have recently announced that the school has partnered with Project Working Mom 2010 to award 30 scholarships to adult students who would like to return to college, but can't currently afford to do so.
Project Working Mom 2010 is an eLearners.com program that sent over 150 parents back to school through $6 million in scholarships over the past two years. Ashford University has already handed out more than 20 scholarships during previous initiatives.
"Through the generous support of our partner schools, we have been able to transform many families by helping moms and dads realize their goal of a college degree," said Terrence Thomas, executive vice president of marketing for eLearners.com.
"This program assists people to get back on track because it helps to eliminate three major hurdles: time, money and confidence," he added.
The scholarships can be used for online programs from the associates to the PhD level.
Currently, nearly 4 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
