Online university earns accreditation

Authorities at California Southern University (CSU), an online education provider, have recently announced that the accrediting commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) has granted accreditation to the school at its January 16 meeting.

The DETC is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Department of Education. Their review of CSU was conducted by peer-group evaluators and independent curriculum experts.

"On behalf of the university, I would like to thank the students, faculty and staff for all their hard work, patience and trust they have placed in us throughout this process of DETC accreditation," said Caroll Ryan, president of California Southern University.

"This marks a historic day for us, and signals the beginning of a new era of leadership and cutting edge innovation in distance learning for our university and our students," she added.

CSU is a completely online school that offers bachelors, masters and professional doctorate degrees in the areas of law, business and psychology.

Online education can be a flexible option for those who are looking to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend conventional on-campus classes.
