Online university celebrates 60 years of operation

Grantham University (GU), an online school designed for working adults, has recently begun its 60th year of operation and will mark the milestone with a series of celebrations centered around the theme, "serving those who serve – 60 years of excellence. Be a part of it."

The school was founded by Donald Gratham, a World War II veteran, to help prepare ex-members of the military for careers in the electronics field. While veterans no longer comprise the entire student body, GU continues to meet the educational needs of the nation's armed forces.

"We believe that every service member, every veteran and every member of a military family should have the opportunity to pursue a college education," said university president John LaNear.

"To ensure that our programs are accessible and affordable to these deserving students, we have developed numerous scholarship programs, an interactive online learning environment and a solid student support structure to ensure that this belief becomes a reality for those who sacrifice for us all," he added.

Online education is a cost-effective and flexible option for those who would like to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend classes on campus because of distance, family or work commitments.
