Online university adds three new nursing degrees
Herzing University, an accredited online education provider, has recently announced the launch of two master of science in nursing programs and a bachelor of science in nursing program designed for working professionals who are looking to fill important roles in the healthcare delivery system.
The online BSN degree offering is a 130-credit hour program opened to licensed registered nurses who have already completed their associates degree in nursing and who are looking for advancement. Graduates of the program may find opportunities in department management and administration.
The two MSN degrees in nursing management and nursing education are designed for professional, degreed nurses who hope to fill executive level roles at insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, managed care organizations and hospitals.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for nurses is expected to grow by 23 percent over the next seven years. The top salaries in the field already exceed $83,000 per year.
Labor Department analysts predict that by 2012, a total of 1 million nurses will be needed to care for the aging population, and some 587,000 new nursing jobs will be created nationwide.
