Walden University is set to hold its fifth annual Social Change Conference on September 30 which will focus on the successes of social innovators and discuss new types of partnerships that are being created to address pressing global needs.

The term "social entrepreneurship" has become popularized in recent years as individuals, including business professionals, have increasingly crossed traditional boundaries in the government, corporate, education and nonprofit sectors in an effort to solve a host of problems.

Making a positive social impact has never been more important than it is today," says Jonathan Kaplan, president of Walden University, which offers more than 36 online degree programs with more than 140 specializations and concentrations.

"We are confident that the leading social entrepreneurs speaking at this year's [conference] will inspire many more to create new organizations that bring about change," he adds.

The event will take place at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, and feature Michele Jolin, White House senior advisor for social innovation at the Domestic Policy Council, as one of the speakers.

Adults seeking a career change may consider online education as studies have shown that salaries of those with college degrees consistently surpass the earnings of those without higher education.
