Online education may benefit military students
A growing number of military service members are pursuing an online education in order to prepare for new careers after they have completed their service. Many are choosing online education due to its flexible scheduling and anytime access to coursework.
In order to help service members select a program that meets their needs, G.I. Jobs magazine has published a list of military friendly schools. The magazine lists Ashworth College as one of the top institutions of higher education that are actively working to recruit students with military experience.
G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools in order to compile the list of the best schools in the country for current or veteran soldiers. Many of these schools offer additional benefits to military students, including credits for service.
"Ashworth is proud to offer a wide range of programs to those serving in the U.S. military, their spouses and our military veterans," said Gary M. Keisling, Ashworth College chairman and CEO.
The college made the list due in part to its $100-per-credit-hour courses, which cost 55 percent less than classes at similar institutions.
Online universities provide many programs that are specifically designed to meet the requirement of the military lifestyle.
