Bryant and Stratton College has recently announced the launch of the Salute to Spouses scholarship, which will provide up to $6,000 to military spouses who are interested in pursuing one of the school's online degree programs.

Officials with the college have said that the initiative was created in response to the U.S. Department of Defense's (DOD) suspension of the popular Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program, which also offered significant savings to those married to members of the armed forces. Due to an overwhelming number of enrollments, the DOD has halted the program's services until a complete review has been completed.

"The abrupt suspension of the MyCAA program is creating a tremendous void for military spouses and we want to do what we can to help those who have given so much in support of our military," said Scott Traylor, Bryant & Stratton's director of admissions for online education.

Applicants interested in the scholarship must submit an essay, be a military spouse with an ID card and have graduated from high school prior to the current academic year.

Online education can be a flexible option for those who are looking to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend conventional on-campus classes.
