Online college to conduct interactive holistic health presentations

Officials at the American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS), an accredited online education provider that offers degrees and career training certificates in complementary alternative medicine (CAM), have recently announced that the school will be participating in the 2010 Energy Trust Better Living Show at the Portland Expo Center from March 26-28.

For the second time in as many years, the college will be conducting interactive holistic health presentations and will be showcasing lifestyle displays to attendees interested in holistic living. Health experts and ACHS faculty and staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the school's programs.

"Prevention is the future of healthcare," said university president Dorene Peterson. "It's not just about curing a particular problem, but about using a series of health-related tools to identify the root cause of health challenges so that we can make valuable lifestyle changes to help promote optimum health," she added.

According to the 2009 Sloan Survey, the online education sector grew by 17 percent last year. Approximately 4.6 million students were enrolled in at least one online course in the fall of 2008.
