Online college to add three new diploma programs
ICDC College, a fully accredited online university, has recently announced the creation of three new diploma programs that will be offered in addition to their many associates degree courses.
The online college has expanded its curriculum to include nine-month certificate programs in alcohol and drug counseling, homeland security and investigation, as well as paralegal studies.
ICDC has added the alcohol and drug counseling diploma course due to the success and popularity of its matching associates degree program.
"Most of our students who are interested in the [drug and alcohol counseling] program know of at least someone, whether a family member or friend, who suffers from the disease," said university vice-president Marvin Gomez. "Our students want to make a difference in their communities by learning a career that offers not only exceptional job opportunities but saves lives as well," he added.
In addition to their diploma certificate and associates degree programs, ICDC also offers a six-month substance abuse course for drug and alcohol counselors who are already working in the field who may need to fulfill additional educational requirements to move forward in their career.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that overall employment for drug and alcohol counselors is expected to grow by 21 percent over the next seven years, which is much faster than average for all occupations.
