Online college launches masters degree in educational technology program
Officials at the American College of Education have recently announced that the school has added an online masters degree in educational technology.
The new program is designed for working educators who are looking to gain an understanding of innovative and current technologies in order to improve classroom learning. Students will learn how to utilize Web 2.0 tools and incorporate them into novel teaching methods.
Graduates of the masters degree program will have an opportunity to earn a special Type 10 K-12 certificate with a technology specialist endorsement. The 13-credit course takes students through five developmental stages over an 18 month period.
Applicants who are pursuing the online masters degree can major in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership as well as curriculum instruction with an ESL or bilingual specialization.
The online education sector grew by 17 percent in 2008 and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years. Nearly one in four U.S. students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports.
