Online college adds two courses to their health program

American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS), a fully accredited online university, has recently announced the addition of two new courses to its complementary alternative health program.

Starting in January 2010, ACHS will begin offering associates level courses in holistic nutrition as well as personal and community health.

The introduction to nutrition class is a personal interest course that focuses on basic nutrition concepts and tools for healthy eating.

The personal and community health course will teach students how to deal with the day-to-day challenges of stress management, physical fitness and environmental health.

"Prevention is the future of healthcare," university president Dorene Peterson explained. "It's not just about curing a particular problem, but about using a series of health-related tools to identify the root cause of health challenges so that we can make valuable lifestyle changes to help promote optimum health," she added.

Universities or colleges that offer online degree programs may be particularly attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do so in a traditional setting.
