Online business degree program receives prestigious recognition
The Aspen Institute, a nonprofit leadership organization, has named the MBA offered by Villanova University, an online school, to its Global 100 list.
According to the institute's 2009-10 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and international ranking, the university's business school has succeeded in integrating social, environmental and ethical issues into its MBA program. As such, it was placed at 55 on the list of the top 100 worldwide business schools.
"As a Catholic Augustinian business school, we seek to ensure that the core values of integrity, community, caring and leading through service are infused throughout our curricula," says James Danko, dean of the business school.
The university also placed among the top 20 schools worldwide in two of the ranking subcategories - faculty research and student exposure. The latter refers to teaching hours and student enrollment in courses related to social, environmental or ethical issues.
Busy adults seeking to boost their careers and earnings potential may consider an online MBA program, as PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008.
