Education degree offers many career paths

Many Americans believe that a degree in education can only lead to an elementary teaching job. However, an online teaching degree can be very versatile, as many companies are looking for individuals with training in this field.

For example, bookkeepers oversee financial matters for educational institutions. Individuals can decide whether to work in public or private sectors, and currently, several nonprofit institutions are facing a shortage of full-charge bookkeepers. More than 2.1 million people worked in bookkeeping during the 2008 financial year, reports the BLS.

Another exciting industry that hires individuals who hold degrees in education is marketing and advertising. Many new charter schools in inner cities need marketing directors to help manage the production of promotional materials. Two years ago, median wages for marketing directors were $108,580 per year, according to the BLS.

The government also hires adults with educational training for positions in nutritional compliance. Nutrition managers often help develop strategies to ensure that all schools fulfill the guidelines of the USDA.

Professionals who have a degree in education also have opportunities to work in youth empowerment, college preparation and after-school programs, the news source reports.
