Chamberlain College offers online degrees for registered nurses

Registered nurses who have already obtained a bachelor's degree can now further themselves with online courses.

The new online master's degrees in nursing that Chamberlain College offers include specializations in education, management and executive positions that can allow nurses to broaden their roles within the healthcare industry. The program can be completed in either three or eight semesters.

This master's program is time-efficient for nurses who are raising a family or working odd hours because it allows students to take classes at their own pace without stepping foot in the classroom.

Online nursing programs are even more appealing because of the growing number of jobs in this field. Gail Baumlein, Chamberlain’s director and dean of online nursing degree programs, says nurses "are already stretched by high workloads, with a nursing shortage looming."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), more than 3 million new jobs will be created in healthcare industry over then next eight years. BLS also reports nurses who further their education typically make more than $60,000 per year.
