Overall employment of professionals who work in advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations and sales is expected to increase by 13 percent over the next eight years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. Due to the high demand for individuals with training in this field, many Americans are seeking online advertising certificate programs.

Adult learners who are interested in a career in advertising, but are currently employed, may benefit from an web-based certificate programs because of the flexibility and affordability that they offer. Online education allows students to create a class schedule that meets their needs.

Professionals who have advanced certification in this field often have an easier time getting hired.

Individuals who wish to have a career in advertising can work in almost any industry. Many professionals choose to work for a firms that prepare advertisements for other companies and design campaigns to promote the interests of the client.

Median annual wages for advertising professionals were between $80,220 and $108,580 during the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the BLS reports. Advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sales managers held about 623,800 jobs during that year.
