Capella University to host 18th biannual commencement ceremony
Capella University, an accredited online education provider, has announced that it will host its spring commencement ceremony on March 20 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona.
The keynote speaker of the university's 18th graduation ceremony will be Major Tammy Duckworth, the assistant secretary for public and intergovernmental affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and a former Capella doctoral student.
Duckworth, who was recently inducted into the U.S. Army Women's Foundation Hall of Fame, is a former U.S. Army helicopter pilot, a Purple Heart recipient and an Iraq War veteran.
In addition to the ceremony, Capella will provide a webcast of the event for graduates who are unable to make the trip to Phoenix.
"We are proud to recognize the incredible accomplishments of each of our graduates," said Chris Cassirer, president of Capella University.
"Earning a degree is an exciting and challenging journey that requires hard work, determination, and commitment," he added. "Each of Capella's graduating students deserves our applause for their perseverance, personal growth and academic achievements."
Approximately 550 students and their families are expected to attend the ceremony in person.
