Capella University launches new online research center
Capella University, an accredited provider of online degree programs, recently announced the launch of an innovative web-based research center designed to consolidate all of the school's resources into one online database.
Officials with the university believe that dissertation mentors, faculty researchers as well as masters degree and doctoral students will benefit most from the new site, which will be made publicly accessible in the near future.
The research center incorporates an interactive tool that allows students to verify which forms are necessary to submit as part of the research review process.
"The site is also intended to be a resource for people and institutions not affiliated with Capella, as a way to learn more about research at [the university] - how it is regulated, what is required and what we do to support our researchers - which can help inform their decision to participate in research," said Amy Donovan, the university's director of research and scholarship.
In 2008, more than 4.6 million students took at least one online course, a 17 percent increase over the previous year.
