California University of Pittsburg ranked number two online program in the country

California University of Pittsburg (Cal U) has been named the second best online education institution in the country by the SR Education Group, an educational resource provider.

The annual study factored in a school's accreditation, tuition cost, student-to-faculty ratio and graduation rate, all derived from data accumulated by the National Center for Education Statistics.

Cal U offers degrees in legal studies, nursing administration, sports management and technology education, according to the Pittsburg Business Times. The school also specializes in online certification courses for education professionals.

"This report pierces that veil of uncertainty around online schools," said John Cencich, the interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, quoted by the news source.

"The reason we do well is the quality of our programs and our faculty," he added. "We don't put programs out there that we aren't competitive in, where we don't have a niche."

Universities that offer online degree programs may be particularly attractive to busy adults who would like to acquire new skills but do not have the time to do so in a traditional setting.
