Ashford University signs credit transfer agreement with local community college
Officials with Ashford University, an accredited provider of online graduate and undergraduate degree programs, have recently signed an articulation agreement with Barstow Community College (BCC).
Through the agreement, students enrolled at BCC will be able to transfer as many as 90 credits into one of Ashford's online or campus-based bachelors degree programs. The community college, which is located in Barstow, California, focuses on alternative energy programs and green technologies.
"We're excited to provide Barstow's students with even more options after their time with us," said Apineru Lealofi, articulation officer for Barstow Community College.
"We wanted to collaborate with Ashford because they offer students flexibility and convenience when pursing their education," he added. "Many of our students are working adults, so this is essential."
Green industries are expected to experience a $1.5 trillion growth by 2020. Furthermore, President Obama has recently promised to spend $150 billion over the next 10 years to create approximately 5 million "green-collar" jobs.
Due to the advancements in wind and solar technologies, environmental engineers and technicians are expected to see a 25 to 30 percent increase in available positions over the next decade.
