Adult education program offers online bachelor's degrees
Adults who wish to return to school may benefit from enrolling in an online continuing education program. Many schools have created these initiatives in order to benefit nontraditional students, such as working adults and parents.
For example, Ohio Christian University (OCU) recently announced that it is launching three new online degrees through its AIM Adult Program. The Chillicothe Gazette reports that the school will offer associate's degrees in agribusiness and interdisciplinary studies, and a bachelor's degree in practical leadership.
The AIM Adult Program is designed to offer flexible and affordable degrees to nontraditional students who wish to switch careers, advance in their current positions or increase their potential earnings. On average, an AIM student completes their degree in about two years.
"OCU is all about serving our community, and these programs were selected based upon feedback from [local] people," Hank Kelly, OCU executive vice president and director of the AIM Adult Program, told the news source.
Other degrees that are offered through the AIM Adult Program include associate's degrees in business management and Christian ministry, and bachelor's degrees in business management, healthcare management, logistics management, leadership and ministry, psychology and substance abuse counseling.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, advanced degree holders may have lower rates of unemployment and higher potential earnings than individuals with less education.
