Administrators go on radio tour to tout benefits of online education
Officials from Walden University, a fully accredited online college, recently conducted radio interviews across the country to discuss the benefits of pursuing an online degree.
President Jonathan Kaplan and chief academic officer Denise DeZolt spoke to radio hosts in over a dozen cities to help explain why receiving an online education is so sensible in this economic climate.
The university officials also discussed what a prospective student should look for in an online college. Kaplan and Dezolt both indicated that the most crucial statistic to look at when judging a university is the job placement rate of recent graduates.
Kaplan also mentioned that it is easier to stay motivated in online classes as there is no back row and every student is forced to actively participate in each course.
Today, over 3.5 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
